Description
Vlasta Dolls presents "The Nuns" hand crafted by artist Pat Thompson circa 1995 original retail $5,000.00 *PLEASE READ CAREFULLY - RELISTED - NEW OFFER - POSSIBLE FINAL OPPORTUNITY* For sale is one (1) set of two (2) handcrafted resin dolls "The Nuns - artist proof of 5" by Pat Thompson aka Vlasta Dolls. They measure 19" tall seated on a handcrafted bench dressed in their traditional robes made from authentic antique material. The nuns are crafted of resin for their hands and heads with a cloth body and armenture. They depict the eldest nun conversing and passing along her knowledge to the younger. A certificate of authenticity is stitched to the back of each nun marked with their names and "artist proof". Only 5 of these sets were ever made! In addition you will receive photocopies of articles and editorials from "Dolls - the collector's magazine Jan/Feb 1990", "Doll Reader Nov 1990", "Herald-News Aug 1988", and "The Star Aug 1988". This handcrafted work of art is being sold as part of an estate sale featuring three (3) one of a kind produced dolls created by world renowned doll maker Pat Thompson. Her unique works of art have been featured in numerous publications over the years such as "Dolls - the collector's magazine" and "Doll Reader". Her passion for victorian style dress, fabric and lace are evident in every lavishly gowned doll she has made. The fabrics and lace she used for her dolls were of true antique origin dating back to the early 1900's that she collected from across the world over a span of some 40 years! Today these materials are nearly impossible to find and have been estimated well over $200 per square inch to try and reproduce. Her creations are limited in the quantity made to preserve the true one of a kind quality and feel to each doll she makes. Over the years her work has retailed and sold from $700.00 to over $30,000.00! Pat Thompson was once quoted "My father always said, 'If you are going to buy a pair of shoes, I'd like you to get the very best you could afford rather than to have seven that aren't good.'" She added that "If I'm going to do something, I'm going to do the very best; I'm never going to settle for second best". (Dolls - the collector's magazine Jan/Feb 1990) Comes from a smoke free/pet free home This is a collectible piece of art and not a toy Only serious collector's and bidder's please *NEW OFFER - FREE SHIPPING WORLDWIDE! I will take every precaution to properly pack and ship this item. I will provide insurance and delivery confirmation where applicable/available. *NOTE - this process may take several business days and will not ship as fast as I usually ship. I will stay in contact with the winner of this auction to provide up to date info on pack and ship date. Bid/buy with confidence - my feedback shows I'm fair and consistent with all my transactions. * I have received questions in regards to the verbage "one of a kind" and "OOAK". Please note that I am using these terms because Pat Thompson's studio in Beacher, IL burned down several years ago and due to her poor health (blindness) her hand made works of art can no longer be reproduced in any way. This doll is the artists proof of only 5 ever produced. We are forced to liquidate these items as soon as possible and this could be the final opportunity to own these pieces of art through Ebay!
