SquareTrade © AP6.0SquareTrade © AP6.0 ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ This item comes from a NONSMOKING & PET FREE household Mattel Barbie Black Magic #1609 NRFB ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ I ACCEPT PAYPAL & MONEY ORDERS: PayPal users must have items shipped to confirmed addresses. Sorry, but PayPal policy states that sellers will lose their insurance coverage if they ship to unconfirmed addresses. If you are an International buyer, have been a member of eBay for at least one year, and have had no negatives in that year, contact me to see if we can arrange for a PayPal payment. If you have dealt with me before, and I accepted your PayPal payment, then, unless you recently turned to a life of crime, you are welcome to use PayPal again. I do NOT deal in fakes. If something is a genuine reproduction, I will tell you. I have purchased most of the Mattel reproductions so that I can discern between them and the actual vintage Mattel items. Still, I am a relatively new collector and am NOT an expert, so please ask me questions before you start bidding. I value my reputation and would never purposefully mislead you, but I might not place the same emphasis on the same things you do or I just might not know some specialized collecting information. I care about the quality of the items I sell and the service I give. Perfection may not be within my reach, but polite, honest service will always be my standard. Barbie Black Magic #1609: NOTE: Don't you just hate unpleasant condition surprises? I will always try to detail any such problems, but please, look at my photos as well. Not only have I spent an inordinate amount of time trying to ensure I get them right, but they are also an important part of the description. And remember please that in most of the details shown in the photographs are greatly magnified. The outfit, card and booklet are MINT. The elegant black silk sheath dress, stylish netted cape, and short black gloves are a deep, sultry black with NO fading. The gold purse is bright and shiny, and the shoes are wonderful. Any variations in color or lightening of the black in the photo are just caused by the lighting reflecting off of the cello. This is just a wonderful outfit! NO SPOTS, original cello is clear & intact with NO tears, or holes. The original box has a few issues. The corners are in worn condition, with the bottom right corner having a tear. Inside of the box frame there is some scuffing. The back of the box also has some scuff marks, and the bottom box side frame has some black marks and is not exactly square. None of this, however, has effected the outfit or the card, which are pristine.  This is a wonderful and rare outfit in fabulous condition and would be a superb addition to any collection. Background Info about Seller:     Fortunately for future Barbie collectors, I was a tomboy as a girl and also wanted to be a veterinarian from the day I captured an unfortunate lizard. In his terror at being manhandled by a giant,  the poor thing dropped his tail. Not knowing this was a defensive mechanism, I was overcome with guilt and so decided to apply apply Mercurochrome to the valiant amputee's wound. My Mother always told me that if it didn't hurt, it wouldn't help. By all appearances I was really helping that lizard! Then and there I was hooked. Nothing, especially playing with dolls, could compete with the thrill of healing, although the lizard might have argued the point.          If, instead of a Barbie or Chatty Cathy, my Mother had presented me with a Vomiting Virginia or a Feverish Fanny, I might have shown more interest, and changed my sights to human medicine or at least doll restoration. But as it was, I only played with my Barbies when I was forced to be hospitable to finicky guests who were not interested in the joys of climbing trees or treating the ills of whatever animal unwisely crossed our paths. And since my Mother knitted wonderful cloths for my dolls, I did not use many of the Mattel outfits, preferring the Mom-made goodies.                   A little over a year ago, I received the payoff for my unfeminine behavior when I discovered a treasure trove in the garage of nrfb and nrfp Barbie outfits along with some unused items that I had opened just to be polite to the gift giver. You could have struck me down with a feather. For the first time I understood what all the fuss was about. Barbie, her stylish wardrobe and appealing miniatures were adorable!I am still not sure whether I have entered my second childhood or have just come to my senses, but I am currently having the time of my life collecting Barbie treasures.         Unfortunately, my creditors are also enjoying themselves. Thus we come to the sad and shameful truth. I seem to be a Barbie addict, with all this dreaded disease entails.     I have given up watching my favorite TV shows to peruse My Favorites on eBay.  I give my family whiplash in the mornings watching me dash to the computer muttering about sellers who list a mint Outdoor Art Show as "Barbie Outfit & Accessories". And I cannot bear to go to bed until I have checked to see if there are any new Buy-It-Now listings posted by night owls.     When I shop at the grocery store, I find myself buying bargain brands and putting nonessentials back on the shelf, exclaiming, "I could have bought that Helenca swimsuit for that price! The other day when my Mother tactfully suggested that I could use a new dress, I gleefully purchased a MOC Sheath Sensation. In short, my credit cards are smoking and I am going to have to part with a few of my goodies to appease the bank. Besides, did you see that breathtaking #3 doll with all orig inal makeup coming up? "Don't celebrate closing a sale, celebrate opening a relationship." -- Patricia Fripp Shipping From New York:     It has come to my attention that when insurance is required in an auction, eBay combines the shipping and insurance prices to give you just one figure at the bottom of the page under shipping fees. The idea is a good one, in that buyers are not surprised later with the insurance charges. However, it can put inexperienced buyers into sticker shock over what they think is the shipping fee alone. So, no, I am not trying for your first born, and your arm can stay right where it is.     I do not charge handling fees, and I will gladly combine shipping on a weight basis. The actual shipping on this item is in the $5 to $6 dollar range for Priority. The insurance is where the Post Office tends to exact its pound of flesh. And no, I am not going to try to save a few dollars and risk losing a valuable piece of Barbie history. Nor am I interested in pl aying Russian Roulette and shipping it in a bubble mailer.      It just makes sense to wrap things well and insure valuable items against shipping mishaps. Then there are the restless postal workers who might feel like a little touch football on their lunch hour. Don't laugh, they did an expose on New York City Postal workers who were doing just that with packages marked "delicate"!     International buyers, please make note that International First Class does not provide insurance, but you can purchase the Registered Mail™ feature for $10.30 more, which will bring your total to $21.10, which is less than the International Priority fee. International Priority Mail does provide insurance up to $650.00     Sadly, due to the new change in eBay's rules about feedback I need to cover a less than pleasant subject. I have heard of buyers attempting to blackmail sellers by threatening them with undeserved bad ratings. You need to know that I react very poorly to blackmailers and will do everything within my considerable abilities to exact justice from anyone who tries such a thing. I am not talking here of honest feedback or requests for honest compensation if I made a mistake. I pride=2 0myself on my reputation and will be very quick to set any mistake I make right. Indeed, I would appreciate that chance before you give feedback.     But woe unto those who try to blackmail me! First of all, the Barbie seller community on eBay is small, and I can certainly get the word around to make it difficult for you to do further damage. Second of all, I can leave you bad feedback under the guise of good feedback so that any sellers who check up on you, as many now do, will see that you have tried to do something despicable. Next, I can and will report you to eBay.  Their own rules obligate them to check into any accusation of fraud and wrong doing.  And if they do not catch you this time, the next time a seller reports you, they will be likely to pay attention and take action.     Further, I will be checking the ratings of anyone who bids on this auction and reserve the right to cancel your bid and block your bidding in all future auctions of mine if your ratings indicate bad behavior on your part. I really hate to have to even bring this up, but I will not be a victim. I deal honestly with people and expect the same courtesy in return.     In addition, if you are new to eBay and have very few stars, or have a rating under 99%, no matter how many stars you have, please contact me before you bid. It is important that we are on the same page about the legally binding nature of a bid and the contractual nature of a winning bid. If you do not contact me and we do not come to an agreement, I reserve the right to retract your bid.  I just need to know that you are responsible and play well with others.     Finally, I reserve the right to relist your item if you do not pay me within 7 days.  A word to the wise. Communicate with me if there are problems or you think I might have a problem with you. Then we can have a civilized discussion on how to resolve things amicably. And of course, if I am at fault, I will do my best to rectify things to your satisfaction. If you do contact me, please make sure that your SPAM controls do not block any but your friends from emailing you. Also, if you contact me through eBay, please make sure  that your email address listed with eBay is current. I answer all emails, but I am not a magician. I cannot beat comprehensive Spam Controls and if eBay sends me your old, defunct email address even Houdini would have trouble with that one. PAYMENTS (US dollars): PayPal, Money Order NOTE:     If you are a US PayPal user you need to have a CONFIRMED ADDRESS. I cannot accept payments with unconfirmed addresses. PayPal will not insure me if I ship to an unconfirmed address on PayPal. This policy is due to the possibility of fraudulent credit card charge backs or bank account reversal of charges, where the buyer keeps the merchandise and t hen reverses the charge, thus obtaining the merchandise without paying for it. Sorry, but I cannot risk such fraud. This does not prevent anyone with a legitimate claim from appealing a charge to PayPal. It only protects against fraud. International PayPal users who cannot get their addresses confirmed and have been members in good standing of eBay for over one year with no negatives in the past year, or a really good explanation (I am a sucker for a good story) can contact me to see if we can reach an agreement for a PayPal payment. If you have purchased items from me before and used PayPal and have NOT recently turned to a life of crime, you are welcome to use PayPal again.     If you are a US buyer and do need this item shipped to another address, you can pay me with a money order. Thank you for your understanding Pay me securely with any major credit card through PayPal!
