The older sister is 17 1/2 inches tall and the younger sister is 9 1/2''. These dolls have fine bisque heads, arms and legs and cloth bodies with wire armatures. Both girls have blonde mohair wigs and hand painted faces with freckles. They are just beautiful...the painting is exquisite, from the blue eyes, down to fine freckles on the larger girls arms and legs. I have tried to show this in the pictures. The clothing is made of fine cotton. The larger doll has a tiny blue stripe dress with dotted swiss pinafore , with blue and white flowers on the waist band. The dress is trimmed in white eyelet lace. The smaller doll has cotton stripe dress with eyelet trim. They also have white cotton pantaloons trimmed in eyelet lace.> Both dolls are marked on the back of the neck, Verena Eising, 25/7on the larger doll and 25 on the smaller one. I do not know the names of these dolls. I purchased them from a local doll shop in 1996. The owner of the shop had purchased them from Verena when she was in Germany. Dolls very similiar to these are pictured in the book Contemporary Artist Dolls from Germany by Ann Bahar and Ingeborg Riesser. They can be found on pages 20, 21, 22 & 23. From what I read in this wonderful book, they were made in the early 1990's, before Verena came to the United States with her dolls. I have displayed these dolls but behind glass and away from light.
