The doll is a classic "teddy bear" in all regards with the exception of the face, which displays a comical rubber likeness of Kennedy. In the storied field of political collectibles, few items can compare with the offered piece in terms of amusement. The use of caricature and humor in political campaigns in America has a long and rich history, and this "Teddy" Bear doll has a special place in this rich tradition. It is also a very interesting conversation piece and few people can walk by it without picking it up and offering some comment. This doll was created during Kennedy's unsuccessful campaign for the 1980 Presidential Democratic nomination against incumbent Jimmy Carter.
