He was produced in 2006 for FAO Schwarz in a tiny edition of 100 pieces. The only place you could ever purchase him was in the FAO New York or Las Vegas store. Within a very short time, he was 100% sold out. You are bidding on Dalmatian #30, 100% mint and new. He has been in his box since 2006 where I purchased him in Las Vegas myself. He is of course complete with his certificate and FAO box...the FAO box does have wear on it for they were not very caring in storage. Each and every box that came from the Vegas store has the same wear on it...I was in their stockroom and looked for myself. He is 14 1/2" or 37cm tall (he is quite a nice size). He was modeled after a Dalmatian that was made for FAO back in the 1960's, but there were many more made back then than there are now. Recently a 1960's Dalmatian came up on Ebay and sold for almost $1500.00!!! He is 100% made in Germany, unlike a large percentage of the Steiff made today. It is rare for Steiff to make small editions now, 100 pieces is tiny in comparison to their standard "1 of 5000"!!!
