RARE Jumeau Automaton Roullet De Camps-stick out tongue Start Price USD 5,795.00 Current Price USD 5,795.00 Time Left - Bid Count 0 Buy It Now Price USD 6,150.00 Reserve Price - Start Time Saturday, August 30, 2008 End Time Tuesday, September 09, 2008 Location Riverside, MO See more about 'RARE Jumeau Automaton Roullet De Camps-stick out tongue' Description This wonderful automata is a "must have."  When wound, the boy pours the carafe into his glass and then raises his glass to drink.  While he is doing this, his head moves up and down twice and then he sticks his tongue in and out twice to "taste" the drink while music plays.  He is in wonderful original condition except for a replaced wine glass in his left hand and an old sick overlay under his jacket.  His bisque head is free from any hairlines, damage or restoration of any kind.  His wonderful original blonde mohair wig is still glued to its original pate and I do not want to damage it by removing it.  I will guarantee the head to be as described.  His fine outfit is made of silk but is melting.  H has a restored finger on one hand.  The original antique carafe has raised dots as decor.  He stands 19" tall and has a removable key.  He was made by Roullet De Camps in the 1880's to 1890's.  Someone added sticker to the top of the base, which can probably be easily removed if desired.  He was repaired in the past as the bottom of the box is missing.   He is in fine working order.  His lovely bisque head has dark brown paperweight glass eyes.  His bisque is nice and creamy with delicate facial painting.  The back of the head is marked Tete Depose Jumeau no. 4.  The head has pierced ears (they used the same heads for boys as for girls!)  This delightful piece is quite rare and could probably sell for over $10K at auction.  I have never seen another one like this in all of my collecting years.  I also have a Pochinelle automata for sale as well so check out my other auctions.  Layaway is available with $1,000 down provided the remainder is paid in 12 monthly installments or less.  I accept paypal (but only for upfront purchase unless other arrangements are made in advance), money orders, or checks or wire transfers.  Thanks for looking and be sure to see my other auctions for a fabulous closed mouth Steiner, wonderful Jumeau, french fashion doll and closed mouth Kestner.
