WOW 14.5” RARE EARLY ALMOND-EYED PORTRAIT JUMEAU antique doll circa 1877 TO 1883 Here is a wonderful, PORTRAIT JUMEAU French antique BEBE doll with lovely BROWN paperweight eyes and her original signed 8 ball Jumeau body. She is GUARANTEED to be free of hairlines, cracks or restoration to the bisque head. She has a Bisque socket head on a fully jointed and stamped Jumeau French composition and wood 8 ball body with sraight wrists with cupped hands. Lovely "wrap-around" brown paperweight eyes with distinct pupils and radiating irises, painted upper and lower lashes, multi stroke light brows, closed mouth with delicate light shading and accents, pierced ears with antique glass bead earrings, honey blond mohair wig plus her original brown human hair wig and original cork pate. Wearing a wonderful antique ecru wool dress with shirred bib and antique lace (some minor age wear), pretty silk bow at the back, antique cotton lace edged underwear, antique pale blue net stockings, antique French black leather shoes with brown silk rosettes marked “MG 0.” She also wears a gold front antique oval bar pin inscribed "Rosie." She is also wearing a wonderful teal silk wired hat with applied lace, cloth flowers and bllue silk ribbons. MARKS: 4 Blue Stamp on Body BEBE JUMEAU Diplome d’Honneur CONDITION: Excellent. Fine quality pale bisque head with expert painting of features, crisp modeling of wonderful early Jumeau face with hypnotic “wrap around” soulful paperweight eyes with mauve eye-shadow, very subtle and gentle cheek color soft light brow color and sensitive paining of the lips and very soft blushing of the full cheeks. Teeniest flecks to ear pierce holes and a sliver of bisque is off the left crown rim and there is a slight darkening of the mold line above and behind the left ear. The original body in good original finish condition but general wear to the joints and the toes of the left foot are broken off. This is a truly beautiful early French Bebe with the sweetest expression! This is a truly lovely Jumeau destined to become a family heirloom!! I have her listed on my website at $11,000.
