This is a 1/12 scale miniature book I have reproduced from my children's book, published in 1905 by McLoughlin Bros., New York. I've reproduced this lovely old children's book as closely to scale and style as possible. The original had many more bear story pages that I simplified to just the great illustrations, to maintain the width in scale with the original. This book is also reproduced with some of the staining too, making the pages look very real. There are nine alphabet pages in this mini book and four beautiful coloured pages from the bear story, some you can see in the photos. I just love the funny animal illustations for the alphabet. There are bunnies, monkeys, dressed cats C is for Cats: swell dandies are they, Who think that their manners and Clothes are O.K. There are owls, dogs, great frogs and many more animals representing each letter of the alphabet. The bear illustrations were from a story of The Two Little Bears who run off to join the circus and then had fun at a beach with an elephant and hippo. This book is to scale with the original measuring just 5/8" x 7/8". Funny Animals would be a lovely addition to a Victorian Nursery for the nanny to help your mini children learn their alphabet while helping them develope a wonderful sense of humour.
