You'll look for a long time before you find such a bearish little spyglass as this one!  I'm not sure of its exact age, but I would definitely put it as pre-World War II and it may be much older than that.  I was a child of the 1950's and this would have seemed really cool and old to me then!   (I wish I'd had it then for those pirate games in the big old row-boat at my grandparents' summer cottage.) This is an actual working brass telescope. It is just 2.75 inches long when closed and just under 4.5 inches long when fully extended. It focusses very nicely by adjusting the length and I think it is 3x power. There is no manufacturer's mark or country origin. This mini spyglass is in very good condition, but there is some flaking of the teal blue paint on the tube, as may be seen in the pictures. The brass peeks through attractively, enhancing its antique appeal. I have not cleaned it because it has a nice patina and I would prefer to leave the decision to the new owner. It would polish up nicely if bright brass is preferred. This is a very special little item for the discerning collector or artist. It would be perfect with an antique or one-of-a-kind artist doll or bear.
