Description
This piece measures 16 1/2" wide, 10 3/4" high and 11 3/4"deep. The box is made of cabinet grade plywood finished with a very dark antique pine stain. The final coat is in rubbed-effect satin finish varnish. There are no scars or damaged areas on the box. The front is glass and slides open to the right on a track. With the removal of six screws the entire back can be taken off. The electrical system is twelve volt on a ten volt transformer. There is a six light chandlier, two wall sconces and indirect lighting out the window in the left rear corner. There is a fire in the fireplace with real logs and ashes. The scene includes a food ladened table, four chairs, a small fireside table and a curved high-backed settle. The main attraction is a cage bar with dessert and ale on the pass-thru waiting to be served. Along the back of the bar there are blackglass bottles, tankards, plates and jugs. In this era the purpose of the cage bar was to protect the liquor supply of the house from the late arrivals who slept in the hall if no rooms were available. The servants were also known to pilfer the liquor supply unless it was locked away. Dinner consists of Turkey,Asparagus,Baked Potatoes,Bread, Fresh Apples, Oysters on the half shell and Broccoli with Cheese Sauce. In the left rear an open dutch door allows a peek into the next dining room. Out the nearby window a servant can be seen leading a horse away to the stable. This is a very special item. It was built in 1974 and has no more than 300 hours on the electrical system. It is in excellent condition.
