She is a 25th Anniversary special edition. She is also the winner of the 1997 DOTY Industries Choice Award. Francine is number 6 in a limited edition of only 50 dolls worldwide.   25 dolls were made for the US market, and 25 dolls were made for European market. This doll is hard to find. Current Hildegard Gunzel pieces retail for $6,200.00 or more. This piece is a fantastic buy at a starting bid of only 3,900.00. This includes the original box and documentation. She wears a silk dress with a knitted sweater. She has lattice woven leather lace up boots. Her patterned stockings add just the right finishing touch to this remarkable doll. Her wig is made from real human hair, and her eyes are mouth-blown crystal glass. Francine is 33" tall. Francine is in mint condition. This piece can be found at the German Doll Museum. Hildegard Gunzel is one of the best-known German doll makers.  Hildegard Gunzel was born in 1945 in Tauberbischofsheim.  After completing her schooling at the German School for Fashion Design in Munchen, she worked as a designer in the fashion and jewelry industry.  In 1972 she began to make dolls as a hobby and since 1980 she has been making dolls out of porcelain, which she then coats with a layer of wax.  Hildegard designs the wigs and clothing herself and furthermore runs her own doll manufacturing company.  Alongside her international awards such as DOTY OF EXCELLENCE and DOLL OF THE YEAR-USA, in 1994 Hildegard won the JUMEAU prize for her overall work.
