Ideal for Bear-Making, Cutter Project or Crafts This was a stunning coat in its day, but unfortunately it's day as a coat is long past. Time to give it new life as teddy bears, a cutter project, trim for a medieval reenactment costume or any number of craft projects. There is a lot of beautiful fur here between the damaged bits. This is a full-length coat made of what looks to me like beaver but could also be mink or muskrat. The fur is a little longer than on the mink coats that have come my way, and has a very soft, velvety brown undercoat and dark, shiny guard hairs. This gives it almost a wet look, in a good way, and a rich variation in colour and texture. This coat has had its lining removed to reduce shipping costs and as the first step in turning it into something else. I examining it before listing I found some flaws that need mentioning. There is one badly worn spot about 12 inches by 8 inches where few guard hairs remain. The undercoat is soft and velvety and might be useful for lining ears, for snouts or as a contrasting piece on a teddy's chest.  One sleeve is torn badly above the cuff and the skins there seem quite fragile, so there will likely be some waste there. There are a few other holes and thin spots to be worked around. I think it will be worth it, however, since most of the fur is in good shape and the skins, overall, seem strong and supple enough, if a bit dry. The pieces will likely need lining with muslin for added strength and durability. This coat has a lot of fur to work with. It is about 45 inches long and about 60 inches around the hem. Oodles of fur, oodles of fun!   ~ CHECK OUT OUR OTHER ITEMS ~ You never know what you may find!We are happy to combine shipping to save you money. PLEASE ASK YOUR QUESTIONS BEFORE BIDDING.
