I'm not very versed on this type early doll so you will need to be the judge. I'm saying she is very good because usually these dolls are downright weird looking. This one has a sweet round face with just a hint of cheek coloring. I'm doing my best to describe what I see and have seen in books. This doll is 22" tall and is on what is called a Motschmann type body or a taufling type body. Now I've been pictures of the Motschmann and this does look like that but I came across a book that said it was taufling type body so am not sure the proper term. The head from top to the bottom of the shoulderplate is 7" tall. She has blue glass eys and the inset teeth so you have the top row and the bottom. There is one piece of wax missing at the doll's left eye on the bottom and a little darkening of wax around the eyes but not bad. There is a mohair wig attached somehow to the head. I'm not thinking it is original but I'm leaving it as found. Where the two holes are in front on the shoulderplate, there may be some type of marking but then maybe it's just a few marks in the wax. On the back of the shoulder plate there is a spot where it looks to have been repaired. The arms and legs are wax also. The lower part of the body is a composition. The material at the doll's right leg has been redone. There are strings hanging on the side with beads that activate a crier. There is a knot in the string so you can only pull it a little ways out but it does cry!The wax on the legs has darkened some.They both have a darker spot on the bottom of the foot. I believe she has a very appealing face compared to most wax dolls. If you can love her as she is,please bid.
