The outlined squares, the inner one being 1/2", appear like that to me. Again this is real wood bonded to a backing to keep everything in place until the floor is cut (use very sharp scissors or a straight edge and an exacto knife) to fit. Then, using either contact cement or an equivalent in a spray glue, put it in place and you have a beautiful floor. This piece is identical to the one above except it is a little lighter in color.
