Description
Auction Details: Height: Approximately 30 inches. Condition: Mint. These two wedding bears have never been used. They have been stored in plastic and sealed from the day they were bought approximately 23 years ago. These Bride and Groom Bears were bought at a trade show. These are commercial grade and meant to be used in department store window displays. I've tried to research them but have been having a hard time. I don't think these two were ever sold to the general public. The manufacturer has since gone out of business. History: My mother purchased two sets of these exquisite bears at a trade show approximately 23 years ago. She was so taken with them that she bought a spare set just in case. This auction is for the set that she has stored away. I can't begin to tell you how many people knocked on our door asking to buy them. She couldn't part with them. She just loved the strangers knocking on our door too much! They shared a love of teddy bears and she enjoyed giving details about her lucky find. She'd talk about the groom's tux being made in England, just like we used to talk about an uncle who went once a year to England to have his suits made. Hello, the bear was made in England, he didn't cross the pond for a fitting. The bride's dress is similar to mom's wedding dress. When she was given the opportunity, she'd burst into song and sing "Chantilly Lace" and do the twist.Commercial Window DisplayWedding Bears Hopefully you will see from the pictures that the bride's dress is very crisp white and is lace and has a long train. There are a few pale pink flowers I tried to catch close up. Both the bride and groom have what looks like brown suede on their feet and and paws. We aren't experts- so sorry if I missed pertinent information. Please feel free to drop us a line for any questions, comments or concerns. Mom remembers paying approximately $500 but she can't remember if that was for the set or each one. Manufacturer: G. McBride. Made in England. Tag attached says Bear Ours on one side and Little Folk on the other. My home is clean: odor-free, smoke-free, and pet-free. E-mail always welcome.
