She was made in1885 in Elmira NY for a church bazaar, by someone who was the granddaughter of Noah Webster, and the sister in law of harriet beecher Stowe. The doll is a large one, about 28" tall. She is all cloth- stocking material was used for the body, and it is jointed with sewn joints. Her face looks like it was colored with ink. Her clothes are beautiful- she has a brown velvet dress with a lace collar and satin lining. Under the dress she wears a slip of white material with embroidery, and knickers trimmed with lace. She was well loved and played with, and has worn spots on her face and hands. clothes are in good condition. The hair is strange and may not be original but we will leave it up to the new owner to remove if desired. A super doll for your collection, with historical provenance.
