Description
DESCRIPTION & CONDITION: Check out the prices on these fabulous Barbie collectibles.  If you add the cost for EACH of these 12 SPECIAL EDITION HAPPY HOLIDAYS Barbie dolls they would much, much more than the starting bid. This is an extremely popular and collectible Barbie series manufactured by Mattel.  The Barbies are exquisitely dress and their hair styles are incredible.   The dolls are gorgeous – some of the boxes have issues.  I will include these imperfections as I describe each doll.  Included is the sought after First in the Series 1988 and the rarer blonde 1997 TENTH ANNIVERSARY.    When you read the descriptions, please remember that cardboard dings/creases/minor fraying/rubbing is can be due to shelf ware/storage.  These can be found in new Barbie boxes as well as those collectibles that can only be purchases on the secondary market.  The plastic, except where noted, is clear, crisp, and intact.  There may be the occasional ding/dent (no cut) that is also common because of shipping and storage.  Also, when you hold the plastic up to the light, there will be some scuffing and scratches that is common to Barbie boxes.   I am not an expert – AND condition is very subjective – but I will try to give as many details as I can.   1988- This Barbie was the first and is the most expensive and sought after of all the series– she is lovely and still attached to the box as she was – but the box has major issues.  The bottom that was original to the box is gone – there is only the cardboard that is found inside – it is scotch taped to the box to hold it in place.  The original top is there, but it is scotch taped to the box.  There is scotch tape that holds the plastic on the right to the cardboard box.  There are areas where tape was applied.  There is a about a 1” tear on the upper right corner when you are looking at the box. When looking at the box, there is a torn piece from the flap that was affixed with tape.    There is a tear on the right (when you are looking at the doll) by the plastic.  The top cardboard is starting to collapse and you can see it.  There is some kind of booklet or paper that is visible on the left side.  This box has more tears, dents, fraying, etc. than is common from ordinary shelf ware/ storage / shipping.   This box obviously was opened – scotch tape, tears, missing bottom, etc. attests to this fact.  However, I would say that the doll was never removed from her back – I can’t guarantee this – but I don’t think anybody would be able to put her back the way she is now.  HOWEVER, she is still lovely and displayable, and a BARGAIN especially with the other dolls.   1989 – Barbie is gorgeous in a white gown trimmed with faux fur.  There is a snowflake ornament included – also the display package/ box can be used as a display case.  The box was never opened – nice box – At the top of the box is the Target price tag of $34.22 – and that was 9 years ago!  Box is nice – NRFB   1990-“Holiday sparkle from head to toe.”  The box can also be used as a display case.  There is a shimmering keepsake ornament included.  The box has issues.  The tabs have been opened – you can tell that they were pasted and opened – there is no round scotch tape apparent.  That must have been used in later years.  The bottom is intact but the back cardboard is separated from it.  There is a piece of paper sticking out of it that can be tucked in – there is a small glue mark at that point.  There is a card that can fall out from inside of the box.  The flap that was opened on the side has a wave/bend at the corner.  The box seems to have been opened, but the doll seems to have never been removed from its package.  If it would have been removed, it would have been extremely difficult to put her back in the package as she was originally.  The plastic and the cardboard seem to be intact other than the above mentioned – of course there is the mentioned wear such as fraying, etc. that was mentioned at the beginning of the auction.     1991- “A holiday treasure in velvet and “jewels” – There is a small, narrow piece of cardboard (about ½”) that is torn away where you can see the cardboard underneath.  The piece is still there – like a flap.  The plastic on the lower right hand corner had a dent in it – it is not cut – just dented in.  The box is sealed - NRFB   1992 – Barbie is dressed in a gorgeous gown with a silver dress.  The top has puffy sleeves with lines of clear bead as decoration.  There is a ruffled tulle skirt with glitter over the lovely silver gown.  The gown is accessorized by earrings and a jeweled band in her hair.  The box has a slit on the crease on the right – about 1”.  There is a crescent moon shaped slit near the upper left (approx. 4” semi-circle).  There is a piece of discoloration – about 1 ½” – from tape that was there.  On the bottom left – the cardboard by the plastic has a dent.  On the back- the round scotch tape used to close the tabs is broken.  It doesn’t look as if the doll was removed from the box – she is in mint condition and completely attached to the box.   1993- “She glitters from head to toe in her holiday gown of poinsettia red and glittery gold.  The round scotch tape is still unbroken on the tabs. Box has a crease near the upper right had corner – about 2”.  There is a light 1” crease at the bottom at the edge – in the back the corner cardboard on the upper left hand (when looking at the back) is a little bent –a couple of minor creases that would be common in cardboard boxes – overall, nice box - NRFB   1994- “Barbie celebrates the holidays in style with a glorious gown of gold and faux fur.” Box has scotch tape on tabs intact.  There is a small dent on cardboard on the crease above the words Special Edition.  NRFB 1995- “This season Barbie looks sensational wrapped in rich emerald green satin with twinkling holly berries and a grand Victorian style collar.  The box has the scotch tape on the upper tab still intact.  The bottom two tabs had the scotch tape broken. The bottom tab is out – I hesitate to reinsert it and scotch tape – I’ll leave that up to the buyer – I don’t want to ruin anything.  There is a small rectangular paper stuck to the front plastic – I would guess this is a remnant of the price tag.  The box is in overall nice condition – there are a few slight dents – common to cardboard – because the top tab is still taped, I would say that this box has never been opened and the doll has never been removed from the box.   1996 – “Amidst the wonder of shimmering snow, Barbie celebrates the holiday season wrapped like an exquisite gift in burgundy white and gold.  Scotch tape still on tabs. Cardboard has a crease/dent on the bottom left under SPECIAL EDITION.  There are some minor dings on edges of plastic- no cuts. NRFB   1997 – TENTH ANNIVERSARY BARBIE - BRUNETTE – box has some wear (minor fraying/rubbing) on cardboard – edges, corners.  The plastic has a little ding/nick on the front right crease – not a cut.  Scotch tape covering tabs is still intact.  NRFB   1997 – TENTH ANNIVERSARY BARBIE - BLONDE – This is the rare blonde Tenth Anniversary Happy Holidays.  The doll has blonde hair, but even the back has a picture of the brunette Barbie.  Box in great shape with the round tape on tabs still intact.  NRFB   1998 – “A velvety silhouette in a crystalline dream, Barbie makes the holiday Sparkle and glow”.  Her hair is in gorgeously swept up with a lovely black jeweled band. The double scotch tape on the tabs is still in tact.    NRFB      REMEMBER WHEN BIDDING:  THESE BARBIES CAN NO LONGER BE PURCHASED IN STORES – THEY ARE ONLY AVAILABLE ON THE SECONDARY MARKET – IF YOU ADD UP THE VALUE OF ALL THESE COLLECTIBLE BARBIE DOLLS, THE STARTING BID IS INCREDIBLEY LOW!!   THE BOXES ARE IN VARYING CONDITION.  SOME ARE IN REALLY NICE SHAPE – WHILE OTHERS DEFINITELY HAVE ISSUES.  I HAVE TRIED TO GIVE AS MANY DETAILS AS I CAN.    SHIPPING AND HANDLING: THESE BARBIES ARE IN LARGE BOXES - EACH MEASURES AROUND 14" X 12" MORE OR LESS - DEPENDING ON THE SHAPE OF THE BOX.  These will have to be packed in two or three boxes - Each doll weighs around 2 1/2 - 3 pounds - with the packing material, the boxes will be on the heavy side.  We will try to ship as safely and reasonably as possible.    Ebay has changed their shipping requirements for sellers. Ebay does not calculate for Fed Ex  - only for USPS and UPS.     When you win the item, I will calculate shipping using USPS, UPS, or FEDEX.  In the invoice, I will include the lowest shipping cost that I am able. Final shipping cost depends on distance from NEW JERSEY.  The farther away the more it will be.  INSURANCE IS A MUST. USPS shipping insurance is extra.  The UPS and FEd Ex cost includes insurance for a certain amount, and then it is extra.  FedEX & UPS insurance will be additional for those items that are valued over the minimum amount.     PLEASE CONTACT ME FOR A PERSONALIZED SHIPPING ESTIMATE.   ATTENTION INTERNATIONAL BIDDERS:  BECAUSE OF THE SIZE AND NUMBER OF BOXES,  SHIPPING COULD BE ON THE EXPENSIVE SIDE .  THE SET IS WONDERFUL AND TO MANY BARBIE COLLECTORS, THE SHIPPING COSTS ARE WELL WORTH IT.   PLEASE KEEP THIS IN MIND WHEN BIDDING.  SORRY & THANKS!   If you check our feedback, you will see that we are fabulous packers and your precious items are well protected. A written description is subjective and is based on personal observations and opinions.  However, if an imperfection had been missed, it was completely unintentional.        Upon receipt of your item, PLEASE CONTACT US IMMEDIATELY if there is a problem before you give negative feedback.  Ebay strongly suggests that negative feedback should ONLY be used as a last resort when communication between buyer and seller does not resolve the problem. STOP NEGATIVE FEEDBACK BEFORE IT HAPPENS!   WE WILL DO EVERYTHING IN OUR POWER TO RESOLVE EVERY ISSUE TO COMPLETE SATISFACTION.  We stand by our reputation and the thousands of satisfied and happy ebay customers who have given us very positive feedback.   OUR DSR (DETAILED SELLER RATINGS) IS VERY IMPORTANT TO US.  The buyer rates the seller on four areas - item as described, communication, shipping time, and shipping and handling charges. We do our VERY best to get a "5" for each of these areas.  We describe our items to the best of our ability - we try to include every imperfection we can find.  Our communication is excellent - we email our invoice in a timely manner, and we contact you upon receipt of payment and when your item is shipped.   We ship promptly - usually within 48 hours of receiving payment.  However, PLEASE do not hold us responsible for the carrier's (USPS, UPS, or FedEx) shipping charges or for their delays.  THANKS!!!
