Hundreds of Dollars & Hours - as well as the Highest Standards - goes into Each and every one one of My Babies Doesn't baby Emmaline look sweet with her pacifier?? Amazingly Realistic Skin tone Baby Emmaline's labor and birth was a very long process and much hard work was dedicated to her perfection.  After washing Emmaline; I began to meticulously paint her. Layer after layer was painted on and then allowed to dry via HEAT CURING using  Genesis Heat Set Artist Paints  to "SET" the paint into the skin, where it becomes PERMANENT!  All of the base coats, blushing, and highlighting, and shading takes place over a period of several days to weeks until Emmaline's ***REAL*** life tones start to form. The curing process is very important; and the final baby skin has an almost translucent quality to it with; thus creating a very smooth, realistic skin tone that is filled with the DEPTH of a new infant! Emmaline even has tiny blood vessels that appear to be beneath her skin. She even has tiny birth marks and very subtle milkspots. Not a single spot gets missed on your baby's skin. And just like a ***REAL*** newborn's skintone, it is not exactly even.   I have tried to paint all of those true to life baby details in her face and limbs.....fat rolls, creases, wrinkles.....just like a real baby has! please note: I do not use any interior dyes on my babies. Highest Quality Mohair Emmaline's entire scalp has been painted all over to give true infant undertones. Then I began the HUGE process of hand-painting "STRANDS OF HAIR" all over Emmaline's entire head.This took HOURS. You should have seen me in my chair with tons of baby photos sprawled around me so I could paint every angle all around this baby's scalp just perfect. I used 5 different tones of paint to mimic the subtle variances in color, depth, and texture on a real baby's scalp.I paid extra special attention to Emmaline's hairline. Most babies have very short fine downy hair along the hairline; and it is very difficult with rooting alone to capture this downy look. But I wanted Emmaline to look as REAL as possible to a real baby.After I cured and sealed the paint; the Emmaline's hair was rooted. My husband has been rooting all my heads for over two years now. He has become quite the pro at it. He used a 43 gauge needle from Germany (which is the finest tip available).  He then directionally micro-rooted thousands of individual hair follicles into Emmaline's scalp using the finest brown angora kid mohair. I paid $60 an ounce for this gorgeous Baby fine mohair. Emmaline's hair is truly as soft and fine as a newborn babies hair.This hair does NOT frizz!!! Emmaline's hair is so silky soft and smooth, that you will think it a *REAL* Infant's scalp!! I have treated her hair with a blend of conditioners to keep it super baby soft and smooth. You can wet it, and gently style it. You can even see her baby scalp peeking through.....just like most newborns  Her hair has been glued and sealed from the inside as well. Custom Hand Painted Veining I have given Emmaline Veins (bluish/green tones) on her hands, feet, and face.They are subtle, yet very Realistic! You can see them just beneath the surface of her skin.As I painted Emmaline , I made sure to give just the right amount of color without overdoing it. Each fold, roll, crease, and dimple was attended to with meticulous detail to give her a very newborn appearance with ***Real*** baby coloring. Realistic Just Born Poly-Glass Eyes Emmaline's eyes are the deepest newborn blue color. They are a perfect replica of a brand new baby! I want you to be able to hold her in your arms, look into her eyes, and remember those special moment I have hand-painted Emmaline's eyebrows with depth and texture so the hairs appear to be growing right out of her skin.I chose not to give Emmaline eyelashes because it seemed that even the finest pair overpowered her sweet newborn face. Custom Made Cloth Body Infant Emmaline  was given a new high quality Doe-Suede jointed cloth body that was designed and created by a seamstress to fit her proportions exactly. Emmaline has almost full 3/4 arms and FULL LEGS. Her little leggies can go right into a cloth body without any cloth showing. I have weighted her limbs with glass beads, and poly-pellets. In her body, I have used poly pellets, glass pellets; and lots of the Highest ~Quality Downy-like soft Hypoallergenic polyfill to make her so, so snuggly! Her head has been weighted with poly-pellets. Her nose has been opened for added realism and depth; and backed with flesh-toned felt.note: Emmaline is the same size as my previous Asher kit. As a mother of four children, I have weighted Emmaline to Feel as if you were holding a ***Real*** infant.  You will even need to support her sweet little head!   Please note that I do not buy your baby's cable ties at Wal-Mart! I use Ultra Thin Cable Ties to connect her limbs to her cloth body. The extremely small connector will ensure that you won't feel any plastic "bump" sticking out . And they are extra strong because they have a metal tooth to grip the cable. These ties are such good quality they actually have an FDA rating, and are also used in bone reconstruction surgeries. Ten Little FingersTen Tiny Toes Baby Emmaline's finger and toenails have been delicately hand painted to resemble a ***Real*** infant. I have also used barely there, not quite white tips sealed with a satin clear varnish that will not yellow.   Emmaline is the size of a real newborn baby. My Julia appeared on The Today Show October 1st, 2008!! As a child and adult I have always loved and collected dolls. In 2002, I saw some dolls on EBay that looked just like REAL babies. I was fascinated and just had to have one for my own collection. Then after examining the doll in person, I thought to myself, “I can do this!” And thus began my journey into the art of reborning dolls to make them appear more life-like! I practiced this art for a few years, until my desire for sculpting originals took over. I wanted to be able to freely create lifelike babies from my heart. So in January 2005, I took an on-line sculpting class and began sculpting original dolls from clay. Within a year, I was under contract with a few doll companies (Masterpiece and Ashton Drake Galleries). I also began to reproducing my own original sculpts into Limited Editions of silicone and resin. I love infants and would have had many more children if it were possible. I have spent countless hours studying their facial features and expressions trying to capture the innocence of a newborn baby. I feel that God has given me a gift, and has guided my hands in making these sweet baby faces!! Through these infant sculptures, I want to demonstrate that children are a blessing and encourage the mommy in all of us to flourish.
