If unsure, please ask or refrain from bidding. Thanks :) Dear Bidders, you're bidding on a post-war enchanting Heian Princess doll made by well-known Kyoto artist. Kyoto, for centuries, has been known for it's famous doll makers for their every attention to meticulous detail. Her face is the very typical Kyoto mild face, very serene and detailed expression. Kyoto is the only place where a doll of such elegance and detail can be found. This is a very different doll compared to the many others we have sold. The face is made of Kyoto Ceramic. Kyoto Ceramic dolls are extremely hard to come by these days. Unlike gofun, which is applied layers after layers onto the face and wait until it is dry, the Kyoto Ceramic face is fired until it glows a pearly white. The stand is made of wood. Her hair is extremely beautiful silk hair. It is long and adorned with hairsticks and gold tassels. She wears 4 layers of kimono, all Nishijin Kyoto silk- the most expensive and high class Kyoto silk. The outer kimono is high class Uchikake coat, extremely nice orange color with gold embroideries which sparkled when viewed from different angle! I've never seen a kimono like this before. Then, there is another orange bottom layer that goes over the top layer. It has designs of chrysanthemums and peonies and roses designs all hand-embroided. The inside kimono is white Chirimen silk. Extremely detailed and elegant. The obi is apple green with designs of patterns. Her height is 21 inches tall. She is truly a breathtaking doll, with every attention to detail. Her hands and feet are made of gofun. She's simply too elegant to describe with words. Doll is about 30 years old. Condition is very mint since she's been kept in a glass case when I acquired her. Everything about this doll is just so high class that you have to see it to believe it. If you like antique japanese dolls, this is the doll for you.
